Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Northern Peninsula East

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Freezing rain over southern portions of the Great Northern Peninsula this evening is forecast to spread northward overnight, then continue into Friday afternoon. Freezing rain is expected to be mixed with ice pellets at times tonight, and will change over to light rain or drizzle over some locations on Friday afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing. Ice accumulation is not expected to be as significant as in regions further to the south, but is still likely to cause slippery surfaces.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
